My brother-in-law actually went on his mission the day before our anniversary so we went down and was there when he was set apart as a full time missionary for two years. (Don't know what a missionary is, click this link https://www.mormon.org/missionaries)
The morning that he left, we drove down to the MTC and spent some time at the temple grounds before dropping him off.
Afterwords, we went to lunch and to the new temple in Provo to do sealings (I hadn't been to either one). It was a neat opportunity to go and do sealings for those who weren't able to be sealed to their family in this life, especially the day before our wedding anniversary.
Then we drove back home (it took over 3 hours) through an awful blizzard! Went to dinner at Chile's, and spent the night at a bed and breakfast (the same chain that we spent our honeymoon night).
The day of our anniversary, we just enjoyed being together, watching Tangled, and ate a home cooked meal prepared by M. (his homemade meatloaf is my favorite!!). We also ate our top layer of cake, which was still very fresh and delicious. It was chocolate cake with chocolate mint frosting--it's my new favorite!
It's interesting to think that two years ago, we were just meeting and started dating, and now we have been married for a year!
